Jr. Rustlers Round-Up a Championship in FSL’s Inaugural Season

Mar. 21, 2025

Heading into the FSL’s 14U championship series, the Calgary Glaciers had only given up 2 goals. However, that’s as many as they would score against the Jr. Rustlers in the championship series, as the Rustlers defeated Calgary to take the title.

Both clubs swept their opening rounds series, and the Rustlers finished a perfect 4-0 in the playoffs after 2-1 and 5-1 victories.

Game one continued a story that had been constant all season for the Rustlers. Eridani Dougay stopped 34 of 35 shots the Glaciers fired at her, including 19 in the second period.

“I feel like I got a lot of action, just a lot of shots but I held in there,” recalled Dougay post-game.

Defensively it might have been the same story, but offensively, it was an unlikely source that paced the squad from Lloydminster.

Lana Marie Peters had just 3 goals in the regular season but scored twice in game one, her only goals of the playoffs, to lead the Rustlers to victory.

“It meant a lot to us,” stated Dougay. “Even though she didn’t have a lot of points during the regular season, she’s really been doing good in the playoffs, and I was really glad she got 2 goals today.”

Game two saw the Rustlers' depth shine through. Five goal-scorers lit the lamp as they built up a 4-0 lead before the Glaciers could respond en route to a 5-1 victory and a sweep in the 14U FSL championship series.

The Rustlers who finished two points back of Calgary in the regular season came into the playoffs 5-5 in their past 10 but reeled off four straight wins to claim the crown.
