Vancouver Aeros Cap Off Dominant Season with B.C. Championship

Monday, March 31, 2025

The Vancouver Aeros completed a remarkable 16-game winning streak in the 12U FSL division this season, finishing their campaign in style by capturing the 12U British Columbia Championship in two straight games over the Langley Leafs.

With the league’s top three scorers in the lineup, the Aeros came out flying in Game 1, storming to a 4-0 lead after the first period. Vancouver peppered Langley goaltender Makana Mitchell with 54 shots—nearly a shot per minute—in a commanding 7-1 win.

Game 2 was a much closer affair, with both teams trading momentum. Anelyn Birnie opened the scoring for Vancouver, but Langley’s Katie Zhang responded exactly three minutes later to tie it up.

In the second period, Teagan Lai gave the Leafs their first lead of the series with a shorthanded goal, only for division-leading scorer Isla Gunther to respond on the power play, knotting the game once more.

The third period began with the teams deadlocked, but Sienna Yu needed just 23 seconds to break through, scoring what proved to be the championship-winning goal. Vancouver held on for the 3-2 win and clinched the FSL’s 12U B.C. title in their inaugural season.
