12U Calgary Glaciers
At home in the mountains
There is only one team that has tasted defeat just once this season, and it’s the Calgary Glaciers, who were right at home in the Rockies this weekend.
They handed the Jr. Ooks their second loss of the year and went 3-1 in Banff, AB, pushing their record to 12-10-1 thanks to just 19 goals against.
Goaltenders Casey Barker and Isabella Wassilaskus have combined for six shutouts in 14 games, including bookending the weekend with perfection.
There are plenty of heroes up front, but Reese Bherer is the ringleader, with 14 goals in 14 games as well as 10 assists.
16U Bow Valley Nationals
Back in first
There’s a new leader in the 16U division after Bow Valley skated past the Jr. Ooks Saturday.
Chloe Drolet opened the scoring with a pair of first period goals at the Hatch Arena inside Silent Ice Center. Bow Valley led 5-1 after two periods and held off the Ooks in the third period, despite a pair of goals against.
The Nats sit a point ahead of Langley thanks to the 5-3 win, where three players had two points each, including Trista Ferguson.
They will take on the Calgary Glaciers this Saturday at Great Plains Arena.
16U Aurora HC
Saturday night shutout
They’ve won 3 in a row, five of their last six and keep doing it in different ways.
Abigail Lavery backstopped them Saturday with a 14-save shutout over Calgary, including some huge saves in the final minutes when the Glaciers were on the power play and had the goalie pulled for an extra attacker.
Olivia Lin scored the game winner less than halfway through the first period and was a driver all night.
Aurora now sits just two points out of fourth place, they are off until November 28th.
