FSL Showcase Storylines October 28th

Oct. 28, 2025

16U Purcell Hockey Academy

A weekend of firsts

Purcell hosted a showcase, lost a game and started another win streak.

One week after winning the Fall Foliage Classic in Burlington, Vermont, PHA welcomed the league to the mountains. The event opened with a ceremonial puck drop and two home-ice wins over the Calgary Glaciers.

Saturday night brought their first real test. Bow Valley edged Purcell 6-5 in a high-tempo game where both teams fired 34 shots on Silent Ice TV. The Nationals built a 4-2 lead with balanced scoring - four different players posted two points - then survived a late push from the home side.

In a Sunday morning rematch, Purcell put the pedal to the metal and skated away with a convincing 8-1 victory with top scorer Malgorzata Zakrzewska sniping twice and adding two helpers.

Purcell will put their 7-1 mark on the line this weekend in Aberdeen, Saskatchewan.

14U Angels Pro Hockey

First win - maximum drama

The Angels opened the showcase on Friday and went toe-to-toe with the Vancouver Aeros.

Goaltender Charlee Munro was the difference. She turned aside 58 shots in regulation to get the game to a shootout tied at one. In the skills contest, Munro was perfect on three attempts, and Zoe Lommer buried the winner.

The celebration was epic, matching the moment and it created momentum. The Angels had their best weekend at 2-2.

Munro has faced more than 35 shots per game, and owns a save percentage of .938.

14U Bow Valley Nationals

Three wins - one lesson

The Nats went 3-1 at the Silent Ice Center and dominated in their victories.

Bow Valley outscored their opponents 29-4 in a shootout and 2 regulation wins and sits second in the division. Charleigh Mcculloch had a breakthrough weekend, coming in with 6 points, she had the Midas touch. Four goals and three assists on Saturday, while adding a four-point game on Sunday.

Bow Valley knows things can change quickly however, as Saturday night they watched a lead evaporate and it led to their only loss of the weekend. The setback kept them two points back of the Jr. Ooks for top spot.

The two teams will face each other November 16th in Calgary, Alberta.
