Pro Hockey Life Teams Up with the Female Super League to Present the Alpine Cup

Oct. 16, 2025

EDMONTON, AB - October 16, 2025 - For many young hockey players, the season begins at Pro Hockey Life with a fresh stick or a proper fit. Midway through the season, memories are made at the tournaments that define their journey. This December, those two traditions come together as the Female Super League (FSL) relaunches its signature event as the Alpine Cup, presented by Pro Hockey Life.

The tournament will run December 18-21 at the Silent Ice Center and Edmonton-area arenas, featuring all three FSL divisions -12U and 12U AAA, 14U and 14U AAA, and 16U and 16U AAA - with international competition soon to be announced.

“The Alpine Cup has deep roots in women’s hockey, and we’re excited that Pro Hockey Life sees the value in supporting events like this,” said FSL Commissioner Hayley Runnalls.

A Legacy Reborn

The Alpine Cup name carries nearly a century of history. The first Alpine Cup was awarded in 1917 at the Banff Winter Carnival, once described as: “In all Canada—the land of scenic grandeur and romance—there are no events that portray the national spirit to a greater extent than the Banff Winter Carnival.”

Over the years, champions hailed from cities such as Edmonton, Calgary, Red Deer, Vancouver, and Fernie. In 1918, the Edmonton Monarchs broke ground as the only team coached by a woman, a milestone moment that foreshadowed the opportunities being created for female athletes today through the FSL.

Why the Partnership Matters

For Pro Hockey Life, the Alpine Cup is more than just another event — it’s a chance to help raise the profile of female hockey.

“The Alpine Cup brings together some of the best female hockey talent, and that’s exactly why Pro Hockey Life wants to be a part of it,” said Megan Kobar of Pro Hockey Life. “These athletes are raising the standard of the game and inspiring the next generation to do the same. Supporting their stage and helping grow the visibility of women’s hockey is something we’re genuinely proud to be involved in. We couldn’t be more excited about the partnership we’re building with the FSL.”

Looking Ahead

With three divisions and international teams set to join the competition, the Alpine Cup promises to become a mid-season highlight for players and fans alike. Full schedules will be posted at AlpineCupChampionship.com, and every game will be streamed live on Silent Ice TV (silenticetv.com), including expanded coverage on Championship Sunday.
